I think it's more about keeping the fidelity of the default dialog behavior and consistency with the Material Design since it's named "MaterialDateTimePicker".

By removing those lines the functionality of hold and drag is affected and also the part which "activates" the arrows. Is there another way?
According to: https://github.com/anjlab/android-inapp-billing-v3/blob/23b702219e7449e99ba94ace21cbe2cdb6eb6e8d/library/build.gradle#L39 this library uses version 2 of the Google Play Billing Library even if it's advertised as `v3`. I didn't bother verifying this before that warning from Google...
