I'm having the same issue, pretty bad introduction to Viro-React if you can't even run the basic sample apps now ahhhhh 😬

If all that is desired from this extension is markdown emoji support, there is an alternative extension named [Markdown Emoji](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=bierner.markdown-emoji). This does not change the background color of the VSCODE...
