Using the Android emulator I can also reproduce this bug in 2.2, but not in 2.1. Seems to be fixed in 3.0+.

Handle $.ajax() error callbacks for cross-domain JSONP & scripts

Not related, @Krinkle. jQuery not handling error callbacks for cross-domain script or JSONP requests is an inconsistency in the ajax API that's [explicitly spelled out in the docs](http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/) (under `error`)....
