This was tested, but only with the changes in #823. I also excluded all helm template files from the check-yaml pre-commit hook.

I suggest installing the [Renovate](https://github.com/apps/renovate) app, it will create PRs for keeping dependencies updated. Another option is GitHub's [Dependabot](https://docs.github.com/en/code-security/dependabot/dependabot-version-updates).
