I can see that you put in some code towards this goal, but I just wanted to open a feature request so this does not end up forgotten.

When I start typing a country I can't spell, often my phone will suggest the correct country flag before it shows the name. I've even had times where I tried...

ap.active is a method (obviously, since its used on the previous line) so it always evaluates to not False. It is NOT a flag indicating an active connection or not....
