Anything that can be done via the UI should be able to be done via a script using an http call.

This seems a perfect candidate for a plugin.

This looks like the same bug as https://github.com/nzbget/nzbget/issues/792 There is also a workaround posted in that issue. Could you see if that resolves the issue for you?
