**Solution** It appears that the issue is with passing named parameters into the newInstanceArgs() method of the Reflection class. In PHP 7 this gets ignored, but it doesn't get ignored...
I'm going to have to hang on to 7.4 for now until some of these bugs for 8.1 get resolved. I will move on to 8.1+ as things move ahead....
