Renaming the spec
Some people have raised concerns that the name of the API is confusing. Is there a better name for this?
Offline Metadata
has been thrown around.
Throwing some ideas at the wall here:
Content Registry
Stored Content Index
Offline Metadata
makes me think of site metadata; it doesn't evoke a sense that this is about content & what is held, to me.
Offline is kind of an unfortunate word in general but it does seem to be what we have. With Web Bundles especially, it's not just "offline" data, it should also, hopefully, some day become exchangeable, Carried Data
. Real data, that you the user have & can grasp! It's more than just Offline.
For a while the front line folks like @hoodiehq were trying to rebase the branding, call the apps "Local First" rather than "Offline" apps. But anyways... not contributing here, merely deeply into rambling. Thanks. Good luck. Context-Index isn't too bad. Before clicking the wicg discourse link & reading I was expecting a proposal for dealing with virtual-dom issues, & not all content being on the page, not this, but I didn't have any difficulty adjusting my expectations & picking this spec up, my expectations didn't interfere with getting this.
