@reedy you mentioned PV payback, I did a bit of energy modelling work on this you might find interesting. It is also I think and interesting way of using emoncms...

This seems to work ok for me. Both directly via multigraph url and in a dashboard.. Can you reproduce with your emoncms.org test account by any chance?
