Can you please check whether you see the same behavior with [KDE Falkon](https://github.com/KDE/falkon)? Unfortunately it's not packaged in Debian (only it's predecessor, QupZilla, and only in a too old version...

I'd appreciate that! However, no hurry - no immediate plans to go back to the extension API, at least not before the PR backlog looks better.
