I think we found and fixed these parsing issues in the `prometheus/procfs` version of the `/proc/meminfo` parser. But we never refactored the collector here to use the new parser.

Sorry, I don't think we want this collector in the node_exporter. The listed dynamic information is not appropriate for metrics collection.
Yes, I've also used sysfsutils for similar permissions issues. I'd be OK with this if we had some documentation on what sysfsutils config is needed for the collector(s) to work.
