This seems to be the same issue as https://github.com/Tow-Boot/Tow-Boot/issues/147, since it's the same SoC and therefore mostly the same u-boot configuration.
Just tried an [Intel 660p 512 GB](https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/149403/intel-ssd-660p-series-2-0tb-m-2-80mm-pcie-3-0-x4-3d2-qlc/specifications.html) and Tow-Boot 2021.10-004 on my Pinebook Pro and it does not detect it at all.
Same on rockpi4b for me. At least when booting the spi.installer.img flashed to SD card or eMMC.
Tried all USB ports, with the switch to right and left. Same outcome.
Yep, sounds like exactly the same issue. Didn't matter how the SPI Boot Order Switch was set, it would always fail like OP mentioned.
This also happens on 001 and 002. So it's because the current flashed u-boot is missing an option, that lets Tow-boot show it's menu?
The Pinephone not being able to boot when the battery is completely depleted is not a u-boot issue as far as I know. Charging in this case can take hours...
