reactivate bluetooth

Open TUBbrain opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Hi, After a misconfigurated try of BigMac on my Mac Pro 5,1 on Catalina patched, I've lost my bluetooth. Could you telle me what can I do to restore it and cancel the disabled options that BigMac has put on my boot ?

Regards,

Vince

I recommend reinstalling to another disk.

What version of MacOS are you installing? currently recommend Big Sur 11.2.3 until SurPlus is an option. What Bluetooth card do you have? Bluetooth 2.0/2.1 EDR is not compatible with Big Sur or Monterey. Only BT4LE is either Broadcom + built in drivers, or Intel Wireless + open source drivers. Monterey requires intervention via USB being rerouted.

I am sorry is this too obvious to some but can you elaborate on this statement? "Monterey requires intervention via USB being rerouted" - how? process? YouTube link perhaps?

I have a MacPro 5,1 (really a 4,1) successfully running 11.6 and have the 20702B0..... no cigar with Monterrey. I'd love to understand the above statement and see if I can finally upgrade without loosing WiFi/BT.

Thanks, Tom

Try searching MacRumors.com. It's well documented there. Bluetooth on Monterey B2 through B9+ requires the USB to be rerouted to a USB 3.0/3.1 Card. Monterey's Bluetooth drivers are much different and expect a newer version of USB to work.

Your 20702B0 Broadcom will work once you have re-routed the USB. Mac Rumors has all the details on it. I have done it successfully with Intel Wireless cards and will do the same with my Broadcom cards once I have time to do so. My schedule is fully loaded.

Thanks man, I must be doing something wrong on my search, so far the only somewhat decent hit I get is about an iMac and BT rerouting, nothing on a MacPro.... I am sorry to ask but if you happen to know of a specific thread I can look at please let me know.

Thanks again, Tom

If you get newer adapters, you the mod won't require any soldering.

I have two Broadcom cards that I plan to adapt at least one. Unless OCLP fixes it.
