I had the same issue, and apparently it's the result of having both WidescreenFix and SilentPatch installed. WidescreenFix somehow interferes with the way SilentPatch disables the EAX/NVIDIA intros. So, setting...

This can be partially fixed by altering the folder view colors. It still looks super ugly, but at least it becomes readable. This doesn't seem to affect the file explorer...
