How do I save my town when Im done the edit?

I see a save button then replace the Garden.dat file with the edited one then I load up the town then the edits I made were not there anymore, please...

When I load BootNtr then go to Acnl It says Outdated plugin file check for an updated plugin. Error code: 0xD8E07402.
