I did some testing with another integration (`steam_online`) and the behavior seemed to be that with "Enable newly added entities" **disabled** it still adds the entity, but with that entity...
Spoke with a maintainer (bdraco) and he suggested the proper fix for this would be another system option (or augment the existing one) to get this desired behavior.
Don't ping people directly like that. I also already [mentioned above](https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/88111#issuecomment-1629869889) that I spoke with him and what his response was.
HA has the value as, for example, `3:59 min/mi`. On that topic, it doesn't seem like units are set properly as attributes; instead, they are part of the value itself.
