I am also having this issue. I downloaded the exe (v3.6), run it, and it shows a window "AMIDST encountered an unexpected error" with the full text below. Minecraft 1.8...

Figured out that 3.6 is not the latest version (I had found [this link](http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-tools/1262200-v3-6-amidst-strongholds-village-biome-etc-finder) via google). Found 3.7 and it does not have this issue.
