Copy the DOM, perform the replacement and the replace whole document. or just be more clever. i.e. use custom spans and ignore them, can be tied in to the other...

so that one substitution won't overwrite a previous one.

or alternatively the option to share it somehow, through social media perhaps.

Make sure that overwrite on install is disabled, and that a flag is added into the storage to mark version history as required.
