Cool fix @LuigiPapino! I ended up disabling AndroidDevMetrics in my tests entirely by writing a wrapper around it and injecting a no-op version in my tests.
FYI my PR only fixed horizontal on OSX. You might want to look into this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/50749/horizontal-scrolling-treated-as-right-click-in-java-applications
