After checking, it only shows itself as craftable, while still showing missing red ghost slots after clicking (on 1.21.4 at least). Either way it's not fixable without modifying the client....

Hmm weird, might be an issue in that mod somehow?
It's best to not use that and fix the errors instead, as they will cause issues otherwise (and it will be removed, so for people using ViaVersion it's not great...
From my testing it didn't work correctly originally (broke tooltips for items modified with polymer). Also yeah it fixes compat with mods adding things there, like trinkets.
This is issue on Moonrise part, not mine
Worth noting while this would fix the crash, I think the Polymer Virtual Entity API (and maybe some other polymer ones) is also broken

This does break existing mods such as polymer library (it injects into getCodec method) and carpet (adds to vanilla list). It also requires more specific mixins to work around it.
