Doesn't work in OpenSUSE Leap 42.2 64 bit, KDE5. Firefox window disappears but no tray icon appears.

Oh wow, that's unexpected. Judging by your experience, does this mean that the audio card is dead, or just some minor connection problem in some port?

If this is a hardware problem, will buying new SD/Audio IO board help?
