Most of the time, such issues are due to buggy OpenCL drivers. And AMD ones are known to be. So probably not a darktable issue but an OpenCL driver one....

At least, we could add a message to explain possibility/need to set metadata, on tooltip when hovering export button. I plan to propose something for that. About where preferences are...
I add so windows support as labels. I can confirm that this works great on Linux (I use that function really often on Linux and never had that issue).
