The docs have been updated to provide details on the new upload process: https://github.com/500px/api-documentation/blob/master/basics/upload.md This will provide better upload performance than the previous process.

The crop information is not being exposed right now in our API. We're working towards displaying more photos resized without cropping so this information is likely to get updated less...
