Quite likely, I would try connect the iPad directly to the laptop/computer, but be aware that some (Official Apple) USB-C -> Lightning cables don't work with DFU mode.

Sorry for slow reply, looks like it was an issue with iBoot64Patcher. Latest versions use Kairos for image patching, so you shouldn't have this issue anymore.

Are you pressing the home button then unplugging the device and replugging it back in when prompted? The SHSH saving error usually happens when the user doesn't do those things...

It can take up to 30 tries for some people sadly. No its normal that the device exits DFU mode when the exploit fails. Theres no way to keep it...
