This issue also happens to entities that are in pursuit of the player from hearing gunfire.
Deleting line 257 in object.cpp reduces the severity of this issue but doesn't prevent it entirely.
I think this doesn't happen on ps2 red faction but that is from what I seen in the pcsx2 emulator, possible the emulation rendering is incorrect there.
This is probably besides the shadow thing a false issue. The instance of the bolt emitter isn't in the final product of the mod and the sorting issue there was...
Issue is caused by commit https://github.com/rafalh/dashfaction/commit/fabf91087b684dd9899c0f9a488136cf5a33e80f. Deleting line 85 in particle.cpp prevents this issue but that is probably not an ideal fix.
This issue has destroyed an entire level I worked hard on. Please do something.

They are from my trashy campaign mod. First image is map c1a8.rfl. Second image is map c1a5.rfl. This issue can be found in base rf campaign, level l5s3 has it.
This is happens when EAX is enabled. I think it's because EAX reduces the rolloff distance of sounds.
