Not just for imported scores, and not just in the Style settings. Even in scores created within MU4, chords always play, even if you turn off playback in the style...

In case it isn't obvious, the length of the note played during input is controlled by a preference, which defaults to 300 ms in MU3 and 500 ms in MU4....
