Maybe we can just name it `config-version` and put protostar version there? Users don't have to know how we handle it
What is left to close this issue?
We may look on it in the future(we have no m2 machine to test it though). For now i suggest building it by yourself based on https://github.com/software-mansion/protostar#development

There are definitely some benefits coming from @kasperski95 proposal but honestly I don't see much issue with the current structure. It's true that test command dir became a bit bloated...
