SteamOS 3.4 Mesa should have the needed patches. Also, the latest GE-Proton version would be ideal.

I rebased our mesa-steamos package to SteamOS 3.3 recently and this includes all the required patches. This will be shipped in our 3.2.0-beta.0 release.

Acknowledged. For Lutris, I'll document that Flatpaks need to (1) be passed the `--appimage-extract-and-run` parameter and (2) should run with the `NO_CLEANUP=1` environment variable for the best results.
