I agree, but I definitely think that this should be optional (which shouldn't be *too* hard...).

This should be fixable via #1568. At the very least, that will allow you to redefine the shortcut.
I agree that Ctrl+Enter would make more sense; however, there are probably people who will complain if we change this because it will break their muscle memory :upside_down_face:
You probably should look at https://github.com/Nheko-Reborn/nheko/blob/master/resources/qml/MessageInput.qml#L169-L190 to get started. Also check out src/UserSettingsPage.h and src/UserSettingsPage.cpp, because you will probably want to add a new setting to toggle this. With that...

It looks like QML is not conducive to spell checking, so this will probably go on hold until QML can be better spell-checked.
Well, (_recites in a monotone_) the problem is that the underlying TextDocement may not be modified. This is a really annoying part of Qt.
