So while I do think that tags are the way to go, I have other implementation questions: - Should you be able to nest folders (or tag tags with tags)?...

That option was added over a decade ago (91faaa5) to fix logging with different system locales. It shouldn't, and from my limited testing doesn't, affect the game in any way....

In terms of fixes, a good course of action may be to replace the QTreeViews with the semantically-more-appropriate QListView in combination with a QSortFilterProxyModel.
