Can confirm I'm facing the same issue.

It rarely occurred for me in new config compared to old config. The thumbnails show up when I hover over the progress bar. Didn't try `spawn_first=no` yet.

Update: I tried to change `spawn_first=no` but it became worst. Revert back to yes.

The issue gone if I force HDR in "mpv.conf" and disabling auto HDR in "profiles.conf".
