What exactly is wrong about the wings? Looks absolutely identical to me in your screenshots.

It won't work on Windows ~~but will probably work on Linux.~~ And for the record, it probably uses D3D11 as VR doesn't support D3D10.

I'm closing this as I think the questions have been answered. If you have more questions, just reopen the issue and ask.
Shader compilation stutter can still happen if the game loads shaders at draw time or uses specific features like tessellation.
I can't reproduce the problem and there are no validation errors either. This is probably an AMD Windows driver bug.
