Now that the UFS SRW App has moved to exclusively using the ESG grid, I believe the only fre-ncutils utility we still actively use in the regional_workflow repository is make_solo_mosaic....

We can close this issue and add a comment in #660 mentioning resolution of the G2 issue and explaining a goal of getting this feature functional for the v2.2.0 release...
