Can't get the plugin to crash, so seems like it is fixed?
This bug also happens if you use any font size over 12pt (dalamud default). So a workaround is to switch temporarily back to 12pt, save your experimental tab, go back...
My case requires a hard limit of 500 characters, so for me clamping is the bigger benefit User can still paste their text without the text box just staying blank...

True, must have put it on release at some point without noticing
Switched to Lumina for SeString builder, dalamud's version of PlayerPayload is bugged and crashes with newer worlds (encoding WorldId as byte instead of ushort)
Gonna pick that up, with a bit more functionality
