I'm experiencing the same bug. The issue seems to be that insane amounts of VRAM are allocated and then swapped out to the RAM which in turn fills that up...
If you select "Recurring (anacron)" (or whatever the translation is) and select "Every: 1 hour" in the schedule, won't that do exactly the same? In the docs you can read...
Collisions need to be looked at again on 4.x. For now, collisions are disabled on the dev branch. I'll leave this issue open for that as well.

+1 for support on this game. As far as I know it's only a matter of the EAC (Easy Anti Cheat)-System not working correctly through wine/proton.
