Same error here. Linux Mint 18 Sublime version 3.1.1 build 3176 Python 3.5.2 I made same procedure and still have that error.

For those wondering, the package _Anaconda_ formats the python code on save. For this is needed to add the setting `"auto_formatting": true` within the Anaconda.sublime-settings of the user.
