I get good sync by putting Chromcast Audio devices in groups in the Google Home app. I don't know whether this is relevant to syncing video and audio.
I have also seen occasional instances of a group being duplicated (and I use static IP addresses). I was able to put everything back to normal by clicking "Reset Settings"...
My understanding, perhaps wrongly, is that one device in a group is the "master" for that group. My guess is that you get duplicate groups if the "master" device gets...
