Rename Instances

Open davidfguillaume opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Some of the Instances I connect to have difficult to remember names.

Please add a feature to add a Nickname, Description or Tag to make it easier to know which server is which.

Another pending feature request is to allow grouping VMs based on labels. The idea here is that you'd add a label such as iap-desktop/group=database-servers to a set of VMs, and then those VMs would show up as a group named database-servers.

Would such a grouping capabilty solve the challenge of dealing with cryptic VM names? Or do you see a need for per-VM "nicknames" too?

I have the same request on renaming, but also for projects: It would be great if you can add an alias or a custom name to your projects and instances, and while you also brought up the topic of grouping: It would be nice if you could also group based on Managed Instance Groups, but also on labels would be quite useful.

Groups would be great, but Nicknames are also useful (Sorry for not replying sooner, I didn't get a notification).
