Alternative theory: this is a bug in Discord's interaction with PulseAudio, good luck convincing Discord to fix that though.

That does work, but it prevents systems such as Watchtower from working, which automatically pull new image versions.

If there will be a docker image for this bot then I'm not sure why one would choose your method, using the bot image is probably easier to set up...

FWIW, I switched to another discord library and I'm still having this problem, so it's probably not caused by this library.
