Ok, great, that matches what I can see. I'll have a look at MTL rendering and see if I can think of anything around the previews.

Absolutely. #2192 covers this so I'll close this as a duplicate, but it's definitely something I want to add.

Reopening this as #2192 is more focused on partly visible models, whereas this is a more general request for a permission system (which is happening in #2588)

Thanks - there's a couple of issues open already on this, and I've recently done some cleaning up of the access controls, so hopefully this can be better soon.
