Support `ws+unix:` in WebSocket client

This should be possible, but we don't support it yet. ```js const ws = new WebSocket("ws+unix:///path/to/file.sock"); ```

Updates the readme to put more emphasis on the maintenance mode of the project. Also removes some images/badges that no longer work.
