PR's are welcome to convert code away from jQuery.

@1der1 agreed, hence why we haven't just jumped straight in. Plus there are some functions that rely on jQuery. That said, however, there's no reason we can't slowly migrate code...

There is intention for it, it's just getting it done. The number of commits, recent or otherwise, isn't an indicator that a release should or will happen.
