Minecraft does use XYZ, it's just Y is the height value. Everything both internally (and as far as I'm aware visibly) uses XYZ.

The whole point is that they don't cost anything but you don't gain any resources by doing it. If you think you can create too many, then lower the number...

Extremely difficult to do, especially with the multiple exteriors.

Switching to relative coords mode doesn't change the levers at all. It just means instead of going to x,y,z you go to cX+x,cY+y,cZ+z where x,y,z are the lever coords and...

I think the screen should always show where you're going rather than have it conditional.
