I can also help.. just need to get mine up and running again. I haven't turned it on for like a year now!
Right now we don't automatically mount the card, check if /dev/mmcblk0(pX) exists, if so, mount it.
Seems like automounting isn't implemented to Portfolio yet: https://github.com/tchx84/Portfolio/issues/209
IIRC, this might had to do with 3G/4G thing, try switch to 3G and see if you can receive SMS.
This appears to be a upstream issue, as the only way for the osk to not show up is to put the phone in docked mode, which is only possible...
