this may be better suited to do on 2.0, as i've rewritten (and will be doing further major changes to) a lot of the OSM parsing code.
unable to reproduce using the latest terra++, cc and cwg from jenkins (no other mods):  what projection are you using? have you changed the configuration for overpass or elevation...
i used all the default settings, and the bte preset.
