You are not forced to 0.37 yet, but it will probably happen soon as Niantic is waiting on everybody to update to iOS 10 and update Pokemon GO to 0.37....

Probably. It's hard to tell as Niantic will probably force 0.37 as soon as possible to kill the unofficial API for various bots/map scanners.
