I believe the reasoning for the syntax is that it mimics A1111's syntax for loading LoRAs, making transitioning back and forth easier.

That may be an unpopular opinion within the devs, but as a _user_, I'm here saying I don't care -- at all -- about supporting the diffuser format of LoRAs....
