Feature Request: Add-on for Hypothes.is feeds

Open devinberg opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

Hypothes.is is a web annotation tool that allows users to annotate web pages or other web accessible documents using public or private permissions. OSF Preprints already have a Hypothes.is integration for annotating the preprint documents.

I would like to request an add-on for OSF projects that would integrate an annotation feed into the project page. Feeds can exist for a user's annotations, annotations in private groups, or under tags. Here is one such feed.

@devinberg, just so I understand the request correctly, do you want OSF projects to also integrate with Hypothes.is? Or do you want the feed to live on the project, logging annotations made on the preprint?

@BRosenblatt My thought was more or less an embedded annotation feed. Meaning a feed from a particular user or for a particular hashtag could be displayed on the project page. That way if I were to tag something as I am using Hypothes.is, it would show up on the project page. Perhaps, for example, a feed of items from myself and tagged open engineering. I think this would be sort of similar to how the Zotero add-on works.

Though your idea of preprint annotations being logged on the preprint's project page also sounds cool!

Great! I'll record your request in our internal tracker.

Thanks, @devinberg!
