Since the PR has been long since merged by now, I'd say it's fit to close this issue.
At this time, we're only just starting to update to 4.3. When/If a 4.4 update happens, it will take some time as 4.4 has much larger changes than 4.3
In the last commit, I rewrote the comments about smooth rotation to make it easier to understand, so this should be redundant. Closing this issue now.
