I've tried the demo code, after fixing missing imports, but don't see any code that actually outputs the images.

You will want to open the output with meshlab, and to export it with the texture, follow this guide: https://discourse.shapr3d.com/t/how-to-convert-exported-obj-with-vertex-colors-to-obj-with-texture/8288

I don't remember seeing this issue until recently re-installing it on windows. The last time I had it installed (other than currently) was around April/May 2021

This is a "non-operational" version of AWIPS, as it says [here](http://unidata.github.io/awips2/). I'm fairly certain that this is not working is on purpose, to prevent people from issuing severe weather warnings.

It works fine on colab for me
